2010 Program Leaders

The programs run by WellSpring are lead by a large group of gifted people coming from diverse backgrounds. The Program leaders for 2010 are:

Geraldine Bachowski is a spiritual director and retreat leader with a special interest in exploring a spirituality of the moment. She has a Masters in Arts and Spirituality.

Peter Bentley is Director of WellSpring. He is a Retreat Leader and Spiritual Director, with a special interest in Art, Australian spirituality and the Enneagram.

Susan Campbell is a 2009 graduate of the Art of Spiritual Direction course. She is the Young Adults Consultant at Global Interaction, part of the Baptist Youth Ministries Australia network and coordinates a young adults study series on call and discernment. She is married to Tim and lives in North Fitzroy.

Carole Carmody, a Sister of Mercy, is a spiritual director and retreat leader who is deeply committed to spiritual companioning - the discovering of God in our human experience.

Gordon Carter is a retreat director with the St.Vincent de Paul Society. His interest in the Enneagram began in Chicago where he obtained his Masters from Loyola University. Gordon has offered courses on the Enneagram throughout Australia and for over twelve years, here at WellSpring.

Paul Castley is a member of a religious order known as The Missionaries of the Sacred Heart whose charism is the calling 'to be on earth the heart of God'. He has been a priest for 48 years and worked for almost 18 years at Heart of Life Spirituality Centre in CPE, Spiritual Leaders program for the formation of pastoral leaders in the Christian Community and in Siloam a formation program for Spiritual Directors. He is still busy in Spiritual Direction and the Supervision of both Spiritual Directors and Pastoral Workers.

Margaret Cupit has a DMin in Spirituality and Community from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington DC.  She leads workshops on spirituality in many places around the world.

Matt Cutler loves people, life and sport. He classifies himself as a reflective faith wrestler (code for thinks too much), who is learning the gift of being fully himself, value questions and listening to people...and finds God as he does that. He is a youth pastor at Truth and Liberation Concern.

Margaret Donald has a background in nursing and is a spiritual director with a particular interest in art, quiet days, retreats and women's spirituality.

Janet Duke-Warner is a practicing Consultant Gynaecologist and Spiritual Nurturer. Since retiring from a busy obstetric practice she enjoys using the right-side of her brain to bring to birth ideas and desires. She is completing a Research M.A.(Spiritual Direction) and has written her research essay on the topic "Holding in Spiritual Direction". She straddles her passions across the fields of medicine, spiritual direction, psychoanalytic thought and art and music.

Lynette Dungan is a part of the WellSpring Formation team, and is ordained Uniting Church minister of 15 years  currently working half time as congregational minister and the rest of her time as a spiritual director, supervisor and student.

Marilyn Hinton is an ordained Churches of Christ Minister, currently one of the ministry team at the Mordialloc Baptist Church. She is a spiritual director and retreat facilitator. She has a heart for people growing more deeply in a loving, healing relationship with God.

Kristen Hobby works as a Spiritual Director and retreat leader. She completed her Masters of Arts in Spiritual Direction in 2005. She is married with a five year old daughter. Kristen has recently self published her first book titled "Nurturing a Gentle Heart - exploring spirituality with pre-schoolers". She also has a passion for social justice and has spent the past 7 years helping to co-ordinate the Churches of Christ Social Justice Network. Kristen is also a member of the formation team which trains and supervises Prayer Guides at Kilbride Spirituality Centre as part of the Week of Guided Prayer program.

Marg Loftus is a spiritual director and Program and Volunteers Coordinator at WellSpring. She is married to Peter and mother of three children. Marg also has a teaching and counselling background.

Judith Lynch spent many years working as a Pastoral Associate in Catholic parishes. Nowadays she is a Spiritual Director with particular interest in small group programs that focus on God's presence in the ordinary of our lives. Her spirituality is backed up and enriched by her personal experience as a wife, mother and widow.

Mary McCowan is a spiritual director and retreat facilitator. She has lately become interested in using art as a way of personal reflection and prayer and organising quiet days and retreats using art.

Tim McCowan is a spiritual director, teaching spirituality part-time at the Churches of Christ Theological College, and having a ministry focus on areas of reconciliation and forgiveness, interfaith dialogue and supporting survivors of human rights abuses.

Chris Morris works at the Catholic Office with a special interest in sharing the Christian meditative tradition with school students. He lectures at the Australian Catholic University in the Certificate in Guiding Meditation. He is a Benedictine oblate and graduated from the WellSpring Spiritual Direction Program in 2003.

Michael Mosley is a Licensed Spiritual Director with the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne. Michael offers Quiet Days at Wellspring and has written several booklets which embrace aspects of the contemplative life, of journaling and which offer prayers, liturgy and narratives for personal and group reflections.

Chris Page has been the pastor of the East Doncaster Baptist Church for 10 years. Chris is the Director of the Centre for Faith, Life and Learning, established with Templestowe Uniting church as a place for open Christian reflection in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Chris is married to Anne and the father of three adult children and grandfather to Joanne, Noah and Naomi.

Trevor Parton is from the Centre for Ecology and Spirituality in Glenburn, 80 km from Melbourne, where he and two other Christian Brothers live in community, and where people visit for retreats or quiet time. He has been a science teacher for many years and in recent years studied culture and spirituality at the Sophia Centre in California. Trevor is a member of the EarthSong Core Group.

Barbara Rautman is a Spiritual Director and Retreat Leader, who has a teaching background with some years as a school chaplain. She worships in the Quaker tradition and has studied Quaker spirituality in America. Barbara has a deep interest in poetry and art.

Liza Stewart is a  wife, mother, and grandmother, and trained as a spiritual director after many years teaching, sports administration, and boat building. Liza finds great joy in her family, and in messing around and in boats, but above all, she is deeply committed to encouraging people to find the goodness and giftedness deep within themselves.

George Warren is one of the ministry team at Doncaster Community Church of Christ and leads its ministry of prayer and spirituality. He is also a spiritual director.

Roslyn White enjoys working with people in retreats and spiritual direction. She comes from a counselling background and has Ignation training. Ten grandchildren and a love of singing and sewing compete  for her time and attention.

Joan Wright Howie is a Uniting Church minister and spiritual director offering resources to support the church in the area of spiritual formation. Spiritual formation unfolds as we seek to attend to divine presence calling us into lives of abiding in the love of God. Joan is a mother of three young children and seeks to practice balancing ministry, family life and seeking awareness of God in the everyday.
