WellSpring was proud to host Diarmuid in January 2007 at a series of seminars including Catching Up With Jesus and Consecrated Religious Life–Changing Paradigms, and look forward to hosting him again in January 2009.

Workshop 1: Meeting God in our Human Story
Friday January 9, 7.30–9.30pm
Based on his recent book, Ancestral Grace, Diarmuid will explore new horizons of faith and meaning based on what anthropologists are discovering as they probe our great human story of seven million years.
This is a public lecture standing in its own right for those coming just for that. However, it is essential for what follows on the Saturday. Cost: $25. No bookings required for this evening session only.
Saturday January 10, 9.30am–5pm. Lunch included. Reviewing the meaning of Incarnation and our Christian faith in the light of the new discoveries around our great human story. Topics covered: Core Values of Indigenous Spirituality; Jesus in the Evolutionary Context; Process time in small groups; Incarnation and the Companionship of Empowerment. Cost: $80. Payment in full is required with registration. Inclusive of GST.

Workshop 2: Honouring What the Heart Desires
Monday January 12–Wednesday January 14 9.30am-5.30pm.
Lunch included. Based on his book, The Transformation of Desire, Diarmuid will explore how central desire is to our human and spiritual development, but more significant still the new horizons of meaning we encounter as we engage our capacity for desire in a new way.
Three Sessions, each of which stands on its own, and can be attended independently. However, far more to be gained by being able to attend all sessions, including the process time in the afternoon. Monday January 12 The Landscape of Human Desiring Tuesday January 13 What God Desires for Creation Wednesday January 14 Honour Desire in our Christian Faith. Cost: $220 or $80 per day. Payment in full is required with registration. Inclusive of GST.

• WellSpring Dream Network
Second Thursday of each month, 1.00-3.00pm. COST: $10.00
The WellSpring Dream Network brings together a group of people who are interested in depthing their own personal experience of dreams. Following the Jeremy Taylor workshop the group follows a structured format where the respect for the dreamer is paramount. It affirms the belief that all dreams lead to health and wholeness and with this principle the group explores dreams using a projective method.

Parker Palmer Update: CANCELLED
Dut to health concerns, Parker has been advised not to travel to Australia. As such, the Parker Palmer seminars and retreat which were planned for April 2009 have been cancelled.

What's Coming Up? 

• Wednesday, November 5, Taizé-style Service, 8.00-9.00 in Ashburton Church.  An opportunity to share in Taizé style prayer at WellSpring, each month from March to December, including school holidays. There is half an hour silent prayer from 7.30 pm for those who wish to come earlier.

• Thursday, November 13,  1.00-3.30pm, Dream Network ($10.00)

• Tuesday, November 18, 9.30-3.00, Retreat (Quiet) Day, $25 members/$30 non members led by Maria McCormack. Retreat Days provide space and time for prayerful reflection and attentiveness to God’s Spirit in our lives in company with others who share the same intention. They are spent mostly in silence, allowing for rest, refreshment and new insights. The program includes some teaching, scripture meditation, communion, silent prayer together and alone.

• Wednesday, November 19 at 7.30pm WellSpring Thanksgiving Service. This is an evening of joyful worship and celebration for all those interested in the WellSpring Centre and its Ministry. It is also the graduation of the students from the Spiritual Direction Formation Program.

• Thursday, November 20,  8.00pm, Celtic Style Worship Service. A Celtic style service be held in the WellSpring chapel which incorporates some music, prayers and quiet reflection.   

• Saturday, November 22, Art Retreat Day Creative Expressions. Contact Mary McCowan on 9386 5591 to register. Held at the Moreland Campus of WellSpring, 382-386 Moreland Road, Brunswick West, 3044.

• Wednesdays, 10.00-12.30 November 26 (and December 3, 10, 17), An Invitation to Encounter Yourself in the Advent Story, $60 members/$65 non members led by Alan Niven. You will be invited to engage the stories of four ordinary people you could easily bump into at the supermarket. As each story prompts or illustrates connections with our own journey of faith and exploration we will then enter into some of the key texts of the biblical story. A time of input, reflection, optional group sharing and silence will conclude with a brief ritual of worship and prayer.
