Position Description: Director, WellSpring Centre
FTE 0.8 (up to four days per week)
Salary Package $80,396 (up to and inclusive of superannuation)
Location Ashburton, Victoria with flexible work arrangements
Other Flexible work hours required, with evening and occasional weekend work.

Position Overview:
The Director of WellSpring will lead WellSpring into its next phase of growth and development. The ideal candidate will be deeply committed to their own spiritual journey and the mission of WellSpring. This role focuses on fostering connections within the WellSpring community, promoting the organisation’s vision and mission, and supporting spiritual growth and reflective engagement in justice, peace, right-relationship with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and the environment. The Director will develop strategies to engage and grow the community, overseeing programs and operational functions while working with the Board to support financial sustainability.

We are seeking the successful candidate to start as soon as possible, preferably by early March 2025.
Key Responsibilities:
Community and Stakeholder Engagement
- Develop and implement community engagement programs to foster connection and to support spiritual growth within the WellSpring community.
- Facilitate growth of the WellSpring community by engaging with existing members and volunteers and by connecting and integrating new members.
- Work with the WellSpring Program Director to foster connections and the integration of students from affiliated academic programs into the broader WellSpring community.
- Strengthen connections and partnerships with churches and other organisations; including Ashburton Baptist Church, Whitley College, the University of Divinity, and other Christian communities and contemplative networks, to expand outreach and engagement.
- Oversee the organisation’s website, prepare and distribute newsletters, and facilitate the development of a modern approach to communications.
Strategy and Leadership
- Lead strategic planning initiatives, ensuring that all programs and operations align with WellSpring’s mission and vision.
- Develop and implement an annual operational plan that anticipates the organisation’s needs, program growth, and community engagement initiatives.
- Ensure that all aspects of operations; including staffing, budgeting and program delivery, are well co-ordinated and run efficiently.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement and sustainability within the organisation.
Program Oversight
- Oversee all WellSpring programs; including regular sessions, retreats, workshops, and special events, ensuring they align with WellSpring’s mission.
- Develop, expand and lead an annual calendar of contemplative events and activities designed to engage the community and meet their spiritual needs.
- Work closely with the Program Director to support the implementation of academic programs in collaboration with Whitley College and the University of Divinity.
- Engage and manage external facilitators and WellSpring volunteers to support contemplative events and activities.
Financial Management
- Develop and manage the annual budget, in collaboration with the Board.
- Ensure that operations are aligned to budget, as approved by the Board, and resources are allocated effectively.
- Provide regular financial reports to the Board, including monthly updates on operations and strategic planning.
- Develop and enhance relationships with WellSpring supporters, and connections for sustained giving, including major gifts and bequests to provide long term support for WellSpring’s work.
- Ensure WellSpring's compliance with legal and statutory corporate governance requirements through effective policy implementation, risk management, and regulatory adherence.

- A commitment to one’s own spiritual journey based in a Christian faith tradition.
- A personal commitment to contemplative spiritual care and leadership.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills which foster an environment of hospitality and welcome, with the ability to engage a diverse community of members, supporters, and stakeholders.
- Experience in community building and supporter engagement within a Christian or spiritual context.
- Ability to be creative and innovative to support the development of programs to meet a broad range of audiences.
- Experience in the development and promotion of new programs.
- Demonstrated leadership and strategic planning abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple programs and initiatives.
- Experience overseeing budgets and ensuring operational sustainability.
