9.30–10.45am Frances Dale

Silenced Voices, Stranded Stories: Hearing our orphaned and disinherited voices, being companioned and companioning our pilgrims as our voices are heard and our stranded stories are liberated into the story of God.

In this research I have explored the way the brain functions and how we are hard-wired to respond to life events in particular ways, which can leave our voices silenced and our stories stranded. I examine how an understanding of the way the brain functions can inform the way we companion our pilgrims, the way we listen to our own and our pilgrims’ stories and the voices that cry out to be heard. And I discuss how, guided by the Holy Spirit, we prayerfully respond, hearing the voices and enabling those stranded stories to be liberated into the larger story of God who transforms our lives.

11.15–12.30pm Allison Whitby

‘The time has come’, the Companion said,
‘To talk of many things: Of labyrinths and pilgrimage
Of home and red and golden strings.’

This research is an autoethnographic exploration of four themes encountered in Spiritual Companioning and how the discerning and naming of these themes can assist the pilgrim to depth their awareness of Mystery and of the companionship of the Divine on their life journey.

1.30–2.45pm Sarina Sherring

Mirror for the soul: How might the Enneagram and Hagberg and Guelich’s stages of faith model facilitate self-discovery and guide Spiritual Companioning?

This research explores the integration of the Enneagram and Hagberg and Guelich’s Stages in the Life of Faith as complementary tools in spiritual companioning, focusing on how they facilitate self-discovery and support the companioning process.

3.15–4.30pm Leigh Macpherson

Pastoral Burnout and Spiritual Companioning

This research explores both the preventative and restorative role Spiritual Companioning can have in burnout, especially related to Pastors and Ministry Leaders.
