Building Bridges Program Overview

  • Building Bridges operates in regional clusters of schools of diverse backgrounds under a Regional Co-ordinator;
  • Students participate voluntarily from Year 10 or 11;
  • Students meet in five 2-hour sessions during or after school plus one full school day;
  • One teacher from each school acts as liaison with the program, responsible for correspondence, recruiting, transporting, and supervision of their students who are participating in the program;
  • A different school in each region hosts one of the six sessions;
  • Sessions include interactive activities on trust building, learning of the faith practices of the host school, a vegetarian meal, and small facilitated single-sex groups
  • Students learn from and engage with each other’s personal experiences of life and faith;
  • A Presentation evening is held at the end of each year to celebrate the students’ learning, and share this with the wider public, including parents, and community leaders.
